          Julie Newmar is an American actress, singer, and dancer, best known for her role as Catwoman in the television series "Batman".

          She was born Julie Chalene Newmeyer on August 16, 1933, in Los Angeles, California, as the eldest of three children. Her mother, Helen Jesmer, was a dancer in the show "Ziegfeld Follies", and her father, Donald Newmeyer, was a teacher and real estate investor.

          At the beginning of her career, she performed as a "dancer-assassin" in the show "Babylon Revisited" (1953), as well as a "gilded girl" in "The Snake of the Nile" (1953).

          As a dancer, she also appeared in several films, including "The Band Wagon" (1953) and "Demetrius and the Gladiators" (1954), and even worked as a ballerina at the Los Angeles Opera House. Juli
