She teaches playwriting at Sarah Lawrence College, has taught at New York University, and has also served as guest artist at Columbia University, the University of Iowa Playwrights Workshop and Seattle University.!

Cassandra Medley's plays have been produced all over the U.S., and also in Canada and South Africa.
As an African American writer, she's interested in creating stories, revolving mostly around characters of color, that “personalize the political,” she says.
